Minnesota & Wisconsin Driveway - Walkway Construction
Beauty, Support and Impact
Whether it's vehicle support, curb appeal or everyday transit, driveways are one of the most important aspects of any property. Driveways and walkways are the gateway to your home to leave lasting impressions on your guests. The five major types of driveways in Minnesota are gravel, asphalt, concrete, stamped concrete and paver. Each of these driveway styles have their pros and cons.
Paver driveways offer strong benefits to your home that last long past the installation date. Paver driveways are typically more expensive than their counterparts, but are an investment worth making for their beauty and longevity. At Superior, we can create thousands of different combinations when mixing pavers styles, patterns, colors and banding.
The main expense of a paver driveway arises from the labor involved in crafting it, rather than the material itself. For all paver driveways we install 10-12 plus inches of compacted base material on top of our frost fabric layer. This process combines sand, pavers, paver edging, spikes (for restraint) and finally the polymetric locking sand for the joints between pavers for the desired finished product.
If there are ever any issues with settling or frost heaving beneath your paver driveway down the road, the repair steps are much easier than a concrete or asphalt driveway product. Solid slabs of asphalt and concrete, once installed, are susceptible to shifting and cracking due to movement beneath the surface, rendering them irreparable. Pavers are able to be broken apart, rebased, reset, and swept back into place to look like the day it was installed. The durability of paver driveways makes them a long-lasting option, unlike concrete or asphalt, which are prone to cracking over time.
